# The approval queue

The approval queue is where redemptions you want a person to release wait for a decision. It is optional. It is not the same as the customer approving their own redemption, which is a separate safeguard and happens whenever your staff start the redemption.

## What it costs

Latency at the counter. Applied to everything, it turns a two-second interaction
into a wait, and staff will start working around it.
