# Data retention

Fidella retains a suspended venue's data through a cold-retention window, then anonymises the business identity. A suspended venue with money still owed to it is deliberately skipped, because anonymising your contact details would make a payable debt unreachable.

Fidella is a temporary guardian of your data rather than a permanent one, and
the retention behaviour is written down rather than left to chance.

## The sequence

Suspension retains data. After a cold-retention window, business identity is
anonymised. Only suspended venues are ever purged; a declined venue never is.

## The creditor exception

A suspended venue with an unsettled positive payout is skipped. The fields the
purge would null are exactly the ones needed to reach you about money you are
owed. Skipped venues resurface on each run until a person resolves them.

## Your customers are unaffected

Purging concerns the business record. Customers keep their accounts, their
wallets and their identity.
