# How does the free first month work?

Each venue gets one fully waived first month. The grant is recorded durably against the venue, so it happens once and once only. A venue that closes and later reactivates does not receive a second free month.

## It is recorded against the venue

The free month is recorded against the venue itself. That is why it survives a
pause, a reopening or a change of account without ever being given twice.

## A card is still collected

Waived means you are not charged for that month. It does not mean no payment
method is required.
