What is a streak in a loyalty programme?
A streak is an unbroken run of consecutive periods with at least one visit. In Fidella the Streak chip counts consecutive weeks, normalised to Mondays and checked back a year. As a mechanic, streaks reward consistency rather than volume, which suits businesses that want habit.
Streaks are one of the few loyalty mechanics that reliably change behaviour, because breaking one feels like a loss.
The mechanic, generally
A streak rewards turning up regularly rather than spending heavily. That makes it a good fit for daily-habit businesses and a poor fit where visits are naturally infrequent.
The risk worth naming
Loss aversion is exactly what makes streaks work, and exactly why they can feel manipulative if the period is too tight. A weekly streak in a cafe is reasonable. A daily one punishes a weekend away.
