Vouchers
How do I use a voucher?
Open the voucher in Fidella and show its QR code. Showing it is your approval, so nothing else happens on your phone. If staff scan your usual Fidella code instead, they pick the voucher and your phone asks you to approve before anything is redeemed.
There are two ways to redeem a voucher, and the difference is who says which voucher you meant.
Showing the voucher itself
Open the voucher in Fidella and show the code on its screen. That code belongs to that voucher, so showing it says both who you are and what you want to use. That is your approval, and nothing else appears on your phone.
The code refreshes about once a minute and works only once. A screenshot of it will not redeem anything, which is what lets it stand in for a tap.
On a multi-use voucher this uses one. Show it again for another, or ask staff to start it from your usual code, where you can approve two at once.
When staff scan your usual code
Your usual Fidella code identifies you. It does not say which voucher you meant, so staff choose it and your phone asks you to approve before anything is redeemed. Nothing is deducted unless you approve, and ignoring the prompt simply lets it expire.
This is the path for a phone or remote booking, where you are not at the counter to show anything.
The venue that issued it
Vouchers redeem where they came from. That is true whether you bought it, earned it or were given it.
Rewards are different
A loyalty reward is not a voucher. Staff redeem a reward straight away when they scan you, with no approval step, because you earned it rather than bought it.
Common questions
Does a voucher have its own QR code?
Yes. Open the voucher and it is on the screen. It refreshes every minute and works once, so a screenshot of it will not redeem anything.
Why did my phone ask me to confirm?
Because staff started the redemption from your usual Fidella code, which identifies you but does not say which voucher you meant. Showing the voucher's own code says it, so that one does not ask.
Can I use it at a different venue?
No. A voucher is redeemable at the business that issued it.
Can I use two at once from a multi-use voucher?
Not by showing it once. Each showing uses one. Show it again for the second, or ask staff to start it from your usual code and approve two on your phone.
