What is a stamp in a loyalty programme?
A stamp is one step towards a reward. The business decides what earns one, usually buying a particular item. Buy three coffees in one go and you collect three stamps. When you have enough, you get the reward.
Also called: Punch, Digital stamp.
A stamp is the smallest step in a loyalty programme. On its own it is worth nothing. It only matters as part of a reward.
What earns a stamp
The business decides. Most often it is one stamp for each item of a certain kind, such as one stamp per coffee. Some businesses give a stamp for any sale over a set amount.
Because a stamp follows what you buy rather than the trip you made, buying three coffees at once collects three stamps. You do not have to come back three times.
Stamps and points are different
A stamp counts things. A point counts money.
A business picks one or the other and cannot run both. Which one suits them depends on whether the things they sell cost about the same.
