What is a site lifecycle state?
This is where a venue stands with Fidella: waiting for review, live, paused, or turned down. Only a live venue can be seen by the public. Anything else hides it completely.
One field decides whether a business exists as far as the public is concerned.
The states that hide a venue
Pending review, suspended for risk, declined and suspended all block listing. Everything else about the account continues to exist; it is simply not public.
The states divide in two, and the difference shows up in what a customer sees. Pending review, declined and suspended for risk describe a venue no customer has ever had a relationship with, so there is nothing of theirs to show. Suspended describes one that traded, so its customers keep their cards and can still redeem what they already hold.
Suspension is not deletion
A suspended venue keeps its data and its obligations, and stops giving out new stamps and points rather than taking away the ones already collected. Notably, a suspended venue with money still owed to it is protected from data purges, because anonymising a creditor turns a payable debt into an unreachable one.
Suspended is reached two ways
By choice, when a merchant ends the subscription, and without it, when a subscription payment keeps failing until the retries run out. Both land in the same state, and both are reversible while the venue is still inside the window a closed account is kept for.
