How does the free first month work?
Each venue gets one fully waived first month. The grant is recorded durably against the venue, so it happens once and once only. A venue that closes and later reactivates does not receive a second free month.

It is recorded against the venue
The free month is recorded against the venue itself. That is why it survives a pause, a reopening or a change of account without ever being given twice.
A card is still collected
Waived means you are not charged for that month. It does not mean no payment method is required.
Common questions
Is it per business or per venue?
Per venue. A business opening three locations gets a waived first month for each of them, because each is billed separately.
What if I pause and come back?
The grant is already recorded against that venue, so reactivating does not grant another.
